The straight rod is the thing to feel around for here, though that can be harder than it sounds. She seems to be a relatively new addition to the comics, first appearing as “Star Spangled Kid.” She’s got some kind of staff that she inherited from Starman and works wit the Justice Society of America. Next up is Stargirl, another DC entity I know little about. The good news is that Cyborg and Batman have very prominent masks, whereas Miracle contains only the head, torso, and legs (plus the cuffs and chain) so this one shouldn’t be too difficult to find. However, both Cyborg and one of the Batman’s also feature a chain. The cuffs will probably be hard to find against the chain, so just go for the chain. Miracle comes with both handcuffs and a pretty long chain. If you pay attention, you’ll see that Mr. Basically he’s a big powerful New God from Apokolips, not dissimilar from a good guy counterpart to Darkseid. I don’t know a lot about Mister Miracle and the convoluted Wiki article didn’t help much. The big hair piece is another one to look out for, especially since the only pieces besides the hair and crossbow are the typical head, torso, and legs! She persisted until DC’s big reboot in the 80’s, where she was replaced with Helena Bertinelli, a woman with similar features and behaviors of Wayne, but for some reason a different lineage.Īll you need to do to find her is find the crossbow, which might be a little easier than it sounds. Perhaps the most well-known version of The Huntress appeared back in the Silver Age, though she was actually from a different reality where Batman and Catwoman had a daughter, Helena Wayne. Yes, they are similar to Bumblebee’s accessory and the little flame pieces, but if you’r careful you can tell the difference. You may also be able to distinguish him by his lightning bolts. It’s relatively large and circular, with a noticeable bump. The easiest way to find Jay / Old Flash is to find his helmet. Although his reality, Earth-Two, is now gone, Jay seems to have found a place as a recurring member of the Justice Society of America. Jay Garrick was the very first Flash, introduced in he Golden Age and rarely seen again until a resurgence in audience interest. For further confirmation you can also feel for the pointy mask and the flat 2×3 plate that serves as Bat-Mike’s comic book. You should be able to find those legs, and even if you can’t immediately tell that they’re shorter, you can sort of twist them to see if the leg will bend. He’s got short legs that do not bend at the waist joint. The key to finding Bat-Mite’s blind bag is feeling for those legs. Our darker, more grounded Batman has largely outgrown the “villain,” but he has been re-introduced into DC continuity in very limited amounts. He’s technically an imp, so he’s got access to all sorts of magic that he generally uses to cause mischief.

But if this were true, why make the bags so damn why? Why let that flat base float around and get in the way of everything? And get this, if the character has a cape, it’s all a bag within a bag further diluting whatever tactile sensation you can glean.īat-Mite is a colorful piece of Batman lore, mostly relegated to the Golden Age and a counterpart to Superman’s Mr. …Unless of course LEGO wants you to stand there, making a racket while squishing that bag around in the middle of the store over, and over….and over again.

It ends up a lot like trading cards – you’re very unlikely to end up with a full set randomly, so not only are you forced to trade or pay for what you’re missing on the secondary market, you’ve also got to shoulder the expensive and 100% unnecessary duplicates. But the problem is you can’t even distinguish duplicates, so it’s technically possible to end up with a hundred of the damn things and still have one or two missing. If I knew that I could just buy 16 of these and get all 16 I would be happy enough. I “understand” the gimmick behind blind bags, but I wish they would shift the strategy just a little. So out of the lot we ended up with:įeeling around for these wasn’t always easy, but we did manage it, and we didn’t end up with any extras or duplicates, which I think is pretty cool.

We both agreed that grabbing all 16 was unnecessary, but we did like some of the new characters and more unusual costumes. And of course the job is even harder because of the flat plate in every package. Nope, you gotta pay close attention to those pictures on the box and try to feel out those pieces unique to each figure. What can I say…these blind bags are a pain in the ass! There ain’t no secret codes or small holes peep through. Just a reminder – this is DAY 1 of LEGO Week 4! Click here to check out the full extent of LEGO Week 4!
